I can bear any pain as long as it has meaning.
As you all know I have been raving about 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami for over a month now, on my stories, twitter, or posts and why shouldn’t I?? I mean, seriously, what a piece of art it is!!! It feels like I knew these characters personally, like they were right there in front of me all this time, like the last month I had spend in 1Q84.
I can’t emphasize more upon this but this book is all about the characters, and yes it has a phenomenal plot or should I say it was a mystery read but the characters overshadow the plot. You would be interested in the plot but you would be involved with their lives even more. It had so many diverse characters, everyone with a different trait, style, and ideologies.
It is not that the meaning cannot be explained. But there are certain meanings that are lost forever the moment they are explained in words.
What I liked the most is that I get to be a part of the journey which takes me to this new magical world from my own world with such normalcy that at a point I stopped caring if anything weird was going on. Eventually, it became all about the emotions of the people involved.
Now, I would say this, if you look for closures in a story and if you don’t like open endings or unexplained things then you might get disappointed at the end of this book and truth be told I like closures too but I don’t mind open endings in Murakami’s books. I was left with hundreds of questions after I completed this book and then it was on me to figure all the whys and hows. So, if you are planning to read his books, go with an open mind.
Overall, I loved it! If you are a Murakami fan, please pick this book up.

That’s what the world is , after all: an endless battle of contrasting memories.
